NOTE. How events are run is still a work in progress and if you see any problems with how it's done, please inform me.
Mysteries / cases will be run as events, with the first post of it being posted by a staff member and consisting of the main facts of the case, including the type of mystery, the date, the details, who is allowed to participate, the victim (if there is one), posting rules, etc. Sign-ups will run for a few days after the case is posted or until all the spots are filled up and then the IC first post of the case will be posted in the correct board.
Everyone will make their introductory posts and then one of the NPC case accounts (ABSOLUTE TRUTH, DISPUTABLE FACT, HIDDEN LIE) will post a piece of evidence, a witness statement, etc, which you can then rp your character finding however you want them too. When having your character tell a theory to what they think went on, make sure you make it stand out compared to the rest of the text in the post, whether it be by bolding it or changing its color so that everyone can tell.
The "theory" that will be accepted as the truth of the case / the answer will be chosen by a as of now undetermined method. The possibilities range from a random number generator to a poll and at first we'll probably use a variety to find out the best method.
This is just a general overview of how everything's done, as most (if not all) cases will have their own rules.
ABSOLUTE TRUTH are things that are set in stone fact. They cannot be changed, no matter the situation and to do so would be considered as an obstruction. They are usually things like location, dates and times, and witnesses.
DISPUTABLE FACT are things that can be changed, depending on what's found to support it. They can be anything and some can be perfectly fine while others are off point.
HIDDEN LIE are, of course, lies that have been created by the criminal. Whether or not someone figures out that they're a lie is up to you.
