The biggest rule for exploring abandoned buildings, according to Shiori, is to always be equipped properly. Who knows what dangers lie in there besides broken glass, unstable footing, rotting structures to other hazards. For all Shiori knows, there might even be a sparkling-pirate-vampire-alien-half-human-robot-ghost wielding katana and chainsaws in great pain living in a abandoned building.
Her overactive imagination always spirals down to the more negative side yet here she was right in front of the framed abandoned building that had been rumoured lately. Apparently there was a ghost of a woman who suicided haunting it --- or it was a man who was captured and tortured by demons until his death who cannot forgive the world for letting him die. There were so many rumours that Shiori didn't know which was true anymore. The only one she knew was true was that three different people had fainted while passing this said building.
'Let's go!' Shiori thought boldly to the point of recklessness as she shone her flashlight around the entrance to see if there was anything in the way.
Unlike some of the other buildings, it had no trace of graffiti and only the gloomy colour of concrete left unattended for decades. It used to be a school in the past though there are rumours saying that it might have been an prison instead.
She snuck as quietly as she could across the yard to the front door that was barely hanging by its hinges. Her small stature was enough to sneak pass the hole and she found herself inside the school without a problem.
Her boots made footsteps that echoed throughout the abandoned hallway that was surprisingly clean. Still, the quiet and rather empty atmosphere forced a pressure on to Shiori's shoulders that made her limbs heavier than they should be.
Not that it bothered Shiori all that much. In fact, she was more taken up with the idea that she might be able to get a picture of a ghost for once. Around her other wrist was a digital camera all set and ready to take pictures of anything out of place.
Although she tried to check one of the rooms to the side, it did not budge --- firmly locked --- to her disappointment. Turning her light back down to the hallway, Shiori tried to open her senses to see if she could see or hear anything.
"Is anyone there?" She asked out loud, not really expecting a response back.
